Parish Council

Parish councils are a type of local authority and are involved in the delivery of services and facilities for the public in their own very local area.

Unlike other tiers of local government such as the District and County Councils they have very few statutory duties but they do have the powers to deliver real benefits to the community they serve.

A Parish Council comprises of Councillors (seven in the case of Wood Dalling), one of whom is also the chairman, and together they form the Council. In addition the council is serviced by a Clerk. The Councillors are elected for a four year term, the next election will take place in May 2027.
